Published by Mainstream (25.10.04). The authorised biography of Roy Evans, by Derek Dohren. Ghost On The Wall tells the tale of one of the Boot Room's unsung heroes, from his early days on the streets of Bootle to his managerial stint at second division strugglers Swindon Town. The time in between of course, was spent largely at Anfield.
Roy meets the fans at the launch of the book in Lanarkshire on October 30th 2004. An England schoolboy starlet Roy signed apprentice forms for Liverpool in 1964, plucked from under the noses of Everton, Bolton, Wolves and Chelsea. Under the tutelage of Joe Fagan Roy began to learn what the game was really all about. Although he failed to grab a regular first team slot the Boot Room spotted his latent talents and when Shanks retired in 1974 Roy was offered a coaching position on the staff. The rest, as they say, is history. 'Ghost' tells the untold story with revealing insights into : |

to say that it is one of the very best that I have read."

Matt Garside, Australia "I have just finished the authorised biography of Roy Evans and had to email you, to let you know how much i enjoyed the book. I am a big fan of biography's and this one was superb." Ian Coumbe, Bromborough "An excellent read. Thank you. " Ronnie Taylor, Liverpool "Extensively researched, 'Ghost on the Wall' provides a comprehensive account of the footballing life and times of a man who will forever be remembered as one of this club's favourite sons". "And it's the insightful chapters that cover his management years that will most demand the attention of Liverpool fans." liverpoolfc.tv, Official club web site "... Dohren's book is a well-written reappraisal of Evans." FourFourTwo magazine "How many times have you clicked on a promising title only to find either rehashed 'news' items or else some piece of complete drivel? Fortunately, there are still some writers you can rely on. Derek Dohren is one of them." Paul Grech, Walk On web site, walkonlfc.com "This book undoubtedly fills a gap that has existed for far too long. For the dedicated Liverpool fan this book's discussion of the "boot-room" provides a much needed insight into what made Liverpool Footbal Club so great for so many years. It was not based on systems, or regimes, or even mythology. It was based on the coming together, in one place, of a group of real people who really knew about football." amazon.co.uk reviewer, Scotland "An excellent insight into one of the better liked bootroom managers at Liverpool. Superbly written and an eye opener into the world of Liverpool FC from the sixties to the present day. A must for all Liverpool fans!." amazon.co.uk reviewer, England |
